Outcompete, Outproduce, Outsource- by CBI Magazine
The operators of every business have two things in common: a shortage of resources and a lack
of time to get everything done.
Acquiring the expertise you require to accomplish it all can be a challenge, but there’s an
answer with a variety of built-in benefits: outsourcing—and it’s a solution that’s become increasingly
popular.
A few statistics to consider: According to the 2017 State of Small Business Report by Wasp Barcode
Technologies, 54% of small businesses outsource their graphic and/or website design, and 14% outsource
their marketing, public relations, and advertising. A recent article in Fiscal Times, “HR: Big Savings for
Small Business,” notes that nearly 85% of firms now outsource at least some of their payroll and human
resources (HR). And, in 2014, a Deloitte survey found that 53% of companies outsource a portion of their
information technology (IT) responsibilities.
While these particular functions are frequently outsourced, health clubs enjoy the opportunity of
being able to obtain assistance with an even wider range of needs.
“Some of the other services typically outsourced by clubs include landscape, facility, and equipment
maintenance; housekeeping and laundry services; food and beverage or café operations; salon and spa
services; physical therapy; program management; pro shop management; and other ‘specialized’ components,”
notes Brent Darden, the CEO of Brent Darden Consulting, based in Dallas.
